Sara Suzanne Webster of Vancouver, WA, passed away on Sept. 28, 2011. Suzanne was born on Oct. 18, 1940, in Hays, KS to parents Guy Welland and Iva Amanda Webster. She spent her childhood in Hays and Newton, KS as well as Durant, OK. Suzanne graduated from Manhattan (KS) High School and earned a B.A. degree in education from Kansas State University in 1962.
After graduation from Kansas State, Suzanne married and moved to New York City where her husband, Gary Schrag, graduated from Union Theological Seminary while she taught elementary school. After moving back to Kansas, she and her husband adopted two children and Suzanne continued with her teaching career. In 1970, Suzanne divorced and moved to Oregon with her two children.
Suzanne earned a Masters Degree from Lewis and Clark College while continuing her teaching career in the Portland and Beaverton school districts.

After more than 30 years of teaching, Suzanne retired in 2000 and pursued a successful second career in selling Long Term Care Insurance.
Suzanne was the ultimate organizer and networker and was instrumental in maintaining extended family ties and school reunions, as well as promoting a bridge group, a book club and several women's organizations. Her interest in K-State sports led her to a coordinating role for the local K-State Alumni.
Suzanne was very active in the First United Methodist Church of Portland, serving as Secretary to the Leadership Council for several years as well as playing in the church's handbell choir. She was also an associate member of the Bells of the Cascades, a professional handbell organization.

Suzanne loved to travel and enjoyed post retirement trips to Nova Scotia, New England and Greece as well as cruises to the Rhine/ Danube River, Alaska, Eastern Caribbean and the Panama Canal. Suzanne also actively enjoyed season's tickets to the Symphony and the Portland Center Stage Theatre.
Suzanne is survived by her brothers, Max Webster of Beaverton, OR and Robert Webster of Portola Valley, CA; her son, Timothy Schrag of Newberg, OR; her daughter, Mari (Schrag, Nollette) Mooney of Coos Bay, OR; and her five grandchildren, Jason Nollette of Sacramento, CA, Daniel Nollette of Beaverton, OR, Kyle, Bevin and Taylor Schrag of Newberg, OR.
Another brother, Thomas Webster, preceded her in death.
A Service of Life will be held on Oct. 23, 2011, 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Portland, OR.

I found Suzi's obituary tonight under -google -Sara Suzanne Webster obituary. I never knew her first name was Sara. Thank you for the update on our MHS website. This one sure hurts my heart- Hope all is well at your house, we are enjoying 80 degree days-so beautiful this time of year. Fondly, Delores
